The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF), established in 1967, has awarded c£1,000,000 in scholarships to some 500 talented Canadians studying at over 40 different universities, colleges and conservatories across the UK. Applicants are chosen on the basis of academic or artistic excellence and their ability to represent Canada in the UK. Scholarship Criteria:
To be eligible to apply for a CCSF award, an applicant must:
- Be a Canadian citizen with a valid Canadian passport: proof of Canadian citizenship is required in the form of a pdf of the main page of your valid passport. You may be asked to bring this document with you if you are shortlisted for interview.
- Have lived in Canada.
- Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme (or equivalent) and at the time of applying be attending a full-time UK university or similar institution, and have completed at least one full-time term of study, with at least one full-time term remaining from September 2022. (Applicants undertaking a one-year programme are not eligible.)
- Be able to demonstrate academic excellence.
- Require funds to complete their studies.
- Previous applicants may re-apply. The CCSF offers a maximum of two scholarships to any one individual.

- Contact details for two referees must be supplied; one must be your current UK Supervisor or Academic Programme Director. The 2nd reference should ideally be someone involved in your current programme of study or involved in your very recent past programme of study. References must be submitted electronically by referees before the deadline of midnight 11 March 2022 for applications to be considered complete.
- Applicants must provide basic information about their personal and academic finances. A statement of financial need (limited to 100 words) will be requested.
- A Personal Statement & Programme Overview: (not exceeding 500 words). Bearing in mind that the CCSF Committee is a group of volunteers with varied backgrounds and interests, this statement should be an overview of your programme of study. It should demonstrate what impact your work will or may have on your field of study, on Canada and why a CCSF award will be important to you. The CCSF will provide this overview to your two nominated referees.
- A PDF file of a short CV (of no more than 2 A4 pages) providing details of specialised knowledge, technical, training or academic work experience.
- A PDF file of the main page of your valid Canadian passport.
- A PDF file of the transcript from your most recent, completed degree.
